- listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992
- lead base paint and asbestos remediated throughout facility in 2006 and 2007
- project funds obtained through private donations; various fund raisers; operations from Halloween and ghost hunt activities; and City of Mansfield's Brownfield Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency
- redevelopment activities have made this site into a nation-wide community interest point; facility for special events; and the future home of the Ohio Penitentiary Museum
